Ammonium acetate

Chemical formula of ammonium acetate: C2H3O2NH4

Ammonium acetate is white solid, dehumidifying, crystalline and water soluble. This neutral salt is formed by neutralizing acetic acid and ammonia or acetate with ammonium carbonate.

Applications of ammonium acetate

This soluble salt is used to standardize electrodes for hydrogen ions. It is the main precursor to the synthesis of acetamide and is also used as a diuretic. This compound is used in combination with acetic acid to create a buffer solution. It is used in the production of dyes, fungicides and insecticides.

It is used as a catalyst in the concentration of aldoli novagnol and as a source of ammonia in the boron reaction in the synthesis of organic compounds. It is also used in dialysis to remove contaminants, in the food industry as a food additive to regular acidity, and to determine the ion exchange capacity of soil and existing potassium. CEC is one of the chemical properties of soil and plays an effective role in absorbing and releasing nutrients required by plants and estimating the potential risk of heavy metals and some cationic organic pollutants, which is a good indicator for determining soil quality and productivity.
